POW/MIA Recognition Day Ceremony Saturday (9/28/13)

For the sixth straight year, the Texas State Cemetery along with Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 915 will honor National POW/MIA Day with a ceremony on Saturday, September 28, 2013. The event will begin at 11 a.m. in the monument section of the Cemetery. The ceremony will be followed by a reception in the gallery.

Last year's ceremony featured several speakers, a moving POW/MIA Table Ceremony, Patriot Guard motorcycle riders and representatives of various elected officials and a reading of the names of Texans declared Misssing in Action.

The keynote speaker will be Karoni Forrester, daughter of MIA Ron Forrester. Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell is scheduled to give remarks as well.

The ceremony is free and open to the public.
